On this episode we learn about the amazing story of the Chestnut Blight that wiped American Chestnuts off the landscape in the early to mid-1900s. These massive trees were so important to wildlife and the local way of life – and the glimpse back into what it was like back then is mindboggling. Our guest is Sara Fitzsimmons who currently works at Penn State University and served for over two decades with The American Chestnut Foundation, most recently as Chief Conservation Officer. Simply put Sara knows the Chestnut story and does a great job telling it. Listen, Learn and Enjoy.
