Once the site has been selected, the preparation work begins. We chose a 35-foot spacing, which equates to 35 trees per acre. This will give the trees plenty of space to thrive. We suggest using a non-selective herbicide or mulch to remove invasive weeds in a 4-foot diameter where we will plant our tree. This will take about two weeks to terminate the unwanted competition. Next, we placed pin flags to mark the area we will plant a tree. This preparation will make the next step, planting, a lot easier and more successful.
